Executive coaching for C-suite successors

You're next in line for the C-suite. Let's make sure you're ready before the seat opens.

I'm Jeff Bettinger. I've spent years in the C-suite, coaching successors and developing the leaders Fortune 500 companies run on next. Now I do that work for high-potential leaders like you.

How I help

Two ways to make the climb

One is free and opens in November. The other is the deepest work I do. Both are built for leaders who are close to the top job and serious about being ready for it.

Ready Now: Your C-Suite Ascent

You don't summit alone. The leaders who make it to the C-suite had people in their corner who had already been there. This group puts those people, and that preparation, within reach.

Real tools, free

Worksheets, guides, and resources built from my coaching work with executives and their successors. The same materials my clients use, given away.

A monthly coaching call

Bring the situation you're actually navigating: the stalled promotion, the board exposure, the gap you can't name. We work on it together, live.

Peers on the same climb

A community of high-potential leaders pursuing the top job. People who get what you're carrying, because they're carrying it too.

About Jeff

I've been in the rooms where successor lists get made.

Most successors don't need more ambition. They need someone who has sat in the seat to tell them the truth about what's actually in the way.

I spent 13 years as a school teacher before I ever worked in HR. That's where I learned that people rarely lack ability. They lack clarity about what's holding them back.

From there I built a career in executive roles across private equity, publicly traded, and SMB companies, leading HR, legal, and strategy, and coaching CEOs and their leadership teams. I've sat in the succession conversations where names get weighed. I know what puts a leader on that list, and what quietly keeps one off it.

Six Summit Advisors is how I put that experience to work for the leaders coming up next. I use Hogan assessments and other psychometric tools to get past the fog fast, and I have a habit of connecting dots quickly so you can stop circling the problem and start moving.

When I need to think clearly, I go to Yellowstone. The best leadership lessons I know came from that landscape, and you'll hear a few of them if we work together.

In the field

Some of this work happens outside.

I run leadership offsites in the Yellowstone ecosystem, in open programs and for corporate teams. The landscape does half the teaching.

The Six Summits Framework

The climb every leader makes

Every engagement connects to one or more of these six summits. For successors, the climb usually starts at Terrain.

SUMMIT 1

Terrain

Know the ground you're standing on. Honest self-inventory before you lead outward.

SUMMIT 2

Compass

Know where you're headed. Leadership that's intentional, not reactive.

SUMMIT 3

Pack

You don't summit alone. When the wolves came back to Yellowstone, they changed the rivers. Great leaders build other leaders.

SUMMIT 4

Altitude

The higher you go, the further you see. Influence across the whole enterprise.

SUMMIT 5

Weathered

Every leader gets a storm. Resilience through transitions and hard seasons.

SUMMIT 6

The View

What was the climb actually for? The legacy you leave in people.
